About Garrett Larsen, FDNP
The Practitioner He Wishes He'd Had.
Garrett didn't enter this field because health was always easy for him. He entered it because it wasn't.
It Started With Looking "Healthy"
Garrett's health journey began at 16, when an innocent desire to lose a little weight gradually developed into a 14-year battle with anorexia nervosa. What initially felt like discipline became an increasingly unhealthy relationship with food, exercise, and control.
From the outside, much of it looked "healthy." He exercised constantly. He was extremely disciplined with food. He was lean. He was committed.
Inside, it was a different story. Over the years, Garrett experienced depression, digestive problems, hormonal dysfunction, reduced confidence, and an increasingly complicated relationship with his own health. He worked with numerous practitioners, went through different interventions, and spent years searching for answers.
When Health Became About More Than Himself
One of the hardest chapters came when Garrett and his wife decided they were ready to start a family. After struggling to conceive, fertility testing revealed significant male-factor fertility challenges — including total sperm motility of approximately 2%.
Suddenly, health wasn't about appearance, fitness, or discipline anymore. His health affected his wife. It affected their ability to build the family they dreamed of. And it forced him to ask much deeper questions about what had happened to his body over the preceding years.
After approximately three years of trying to conceive, Garrett and his wife were blessed with their son.
The Question That Changed Everything
The experience fundamentally changed how Garrett understands health. He began recognizing that nutrition, digestion, hormones, stress, sleep, exercise, recovery, environment, and mindset don't exist independently of one another. And his question changed from:
"How do I get rid of this symptom?"
to
"Why might this be happening in the first place?"
That search led him deeper into functional health, and eventually to become a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDNP).
Why a Men's Practice
The decision was about much more than earning another credential. During much of Garrett's own journey, many of the practitioners who helped him were women — and he remains grateful for their support. But the experience made him recognize the value of men having another man they can talk to comfortably about deeply personal things: hormones, fertility, digestion, body image, sexual health, energy, stress, confidence.
Garrett ultimately wanted to become the practitioner he wishes he'd had. That desire became The Maqor Method.
Why "Maqor"
Go back to the source.
Maqor (מקור) is an ancient Hebrew word for a source, fountain, or wellspring. Rather than continually chasing symptoms downstream, The Maqor Method asks a different question: what may be contributing to this in the first place? The name is a commitment to returning to the foundations of health — and understanding the interconnected factors that influence how the body actually functions.
The Mission
Resilient Health. Not Perfection.
The mission of The Maqor Method is to help men better understand their bodies, make more informed decisions about their health, and build resilient foundations that support the lives they want to lead.
Health isn't merely about looking fit, having perfect labs, or eating perfectly. Health is capacity — the capacity to show up fully for yourself, your family, your work, your relationships, and your future.
The objective here is not endless optimization or another health obsession. It's a stronger foundation from which to live.
Credentials
What "FDNP" Means.
Garrett is a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDNP) — trained to gather comprehensive health histories, work with functional laboratory testing, identify patterns across body systems, and coach clients through foundational nutrition and lifestyle changes using the D.R.E.S.S. framework: Diet, Rest, Exercise, Stress reduction, and Supplementation.
He is not a physician, and The Maqor Method does not diagnose or treat disease — it helps you understand your health and build stronger foundations, alongside the medical care you receive from your own providers.
